Opening of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Friday 28 May 1937.
The opening of the Golden Gate Bridge festivities began 75 years ago today and lasted for a week. The guys in top hats are the contingent from Vancouver, which had recently begun construction of its own suspension bridge, the Lion’s Gate.  
From left to right, Liberal MP, Senator, and former Vancouver mayor, Gerry McGeer; Mayor George C. Miller; and socialist turned NPA alderman Parm Pettipiece.
