Frankie Russell and Bob Tait, n.d.
95 years ago today, Bob Tait shot and killed the police chief, an eight year-old boy, and then himself in a dramatic shootout. The incident began with the landlord attempting to evict Tait and his paramour, Frankie Russell, from their apartment at 522 East Georgia Street. Frankie was charged with murder, but was acquitted because the jury found her version of events more credible than that of the police. For the full story, see “What Frankie Said.”
