Sky Bungalow, Seymour Street, 1950.
The Sky Bungalow was built in 1949 in the parking lot of the Bay in downtown Vancouver to promote the Capilano Highlands development. Because they were only allowed to use three parking stalls, the bungalow was raised into the air. The house was very contemporary in its day and introduced many Vancouverites to the design features that would come to typify the West Coast modern home. The Sky Bungalow was relocated to its current location in North Vancouver in the early 1950s.
