The Moon Glow Cabaret on East Georgia Street in Strathcona, February 1966. Tommy Chong (of Cheech & Chong fame) played here with his blues band The Shades in the late 1950s. According to Chong, the Moon Glow was owned by a black railway porter named Daddy Clark. http://bit.ly/dY9rJN
I don’t know exactly where on East Georgia this was since the buildings are gone now. Most likely it was either on the 200 block between Main and Gore, or where the McLean housing project is that interrupts Georgia between Gore & Jackson.
UPDATE: Thanks to historian James Johnstone for digging up the address. This was at 331 East Georgia, where the McLean Park housing complex is now.
