HMS Bounty (1960-2012), Friday 15 June 1962 Replica of the HMS Bounty passing under the Lion’s Gate Bridge. The ship was built in Nova Scotia for the 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty and came to Vancouver as part of a promotional tour. It was supposed to be burned at the end of filming, but Marlon Brando threatened to walk off the set if MGM didn’t keep it. The Bounty found movie fame again in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and is in the news today because it was sunk by Hurricane Sandy off North Carolina. Two crew members are still missing.
