Palace Hotel, ca. 1898
Located on the northwest corner of Carrall and Hastings, the Palace Hotel was replaced with the current Merchant’s Bank building in 1913. After the tracks on the CPR right-of-way were removed in 1931, the triangular patch in front of the building became Pioneer Place, now commonly known as Pigeon Park.
