Georgia Medical Dental Building, Sunday 28 May 1989

Built in 1929 on the northwest corner of Georgia and Hornby streets, the Georgia Medical-Dental Building was Vancouver’s first art deco building. It was designed by McCarter and Nairne, whose iconic Marine Building opened the following year. A campaign to save the building failed and it was demolished on the grounds that it would have cost to much to bring it up to code.
