The Last Stump, Tuesday 8 August 1939
Removal of the last tree stump downtown, located in the old CPR right of way between Carrall and Cordova streets. The stump was 200 years old when it was cut down in the early days of the settlement and survived the 1886 Great Vancouver Fire. The area was being cleared to make room for an Army & Navy parking lot.
