John Qualen
John Qualen was born in 1899 in Vancouver. His father was the minister at the First Scandinavian Lutheran Church at 823 Jackson (the predecessor to the Fountain Chapel) in the East End. Qualen was a character actor who appeared in numerous classic Hollywood movies including The Grapes of Wrath (1940), The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence (1962), Casablanca (1942), His Girl Friday (1940), and dozens of others, along with many appearances in 1950s and 60s television series.
